Julie had always wanted to translate the texture of tree bark into a fabric design, but early attempts had come across as a bit too regimented or obvious. When she began to think about the concept more laterally, she went back to some early experiments, making marks directly onto the fabric with just the materials, the silkscreen, the squeegee and the ink.
Ironbark is an innovative design made with physical, gestural big sweeping arcs, evoking the chunky textured trunks of old ironbarks.
