Sweet New England and all good things

Julie’s show From Seeds to Bloom: 20 years of Cloth is having its last hurrah at NERAM – the New England Regional Art Museum in Armidale. Julie’s first ideas were shown at Sturt Gallery in the Southern Highlands, and these were later developed with the Australian Design Centre to create the show that’s been touring NSW now for more than a year.

‘I’ve loved connecting regionally,’ says Julie. ‘Whenever I could, I’ve chosen to drive so I can really experience the landscape. Driving the Golden Highway through bright fields of rapeseed was a highlight.’

Each trip has forged new friendships and reinforced in Julie’s mind the strength of community in regional NSW.

Julie has travelled to Gosford, Port Macquarie, Hawkesbury and Tamworth, giving floor talks, opening addresses and teaching her popular LookDrawPrint workshops for the Creatively Curious.

‘The touring show has helped to develop and refine my workshops. There’s an enthusiastic and brave audience for LookDrawPrint in regional places and it’s been a privilege to teach people who are willing to trust my process. And the work they produced was fantastic!’

NERAM is hosting two of Julie’s LookDrawPrint workshops, on March 11 and 12. There’s still places available in the Sunday one. The show opens on the evening of Friday February 11th, and Julie is giving a floor talk on Saturday February 12th.

Come on down New Englanders, for the last hurrah.
